Martha's Vineyard is the island wedding I always say yes to. The tempo of the island — bike rides, harbor light, ferry arrivals — bleeds into the film in a way that no mainland venue can replicate.
Most of my MV weddings are private-estate weekends. Rehearsal dinner at a rental house, ceremony at Winnetu or a beachfront property, reception under a tent, and a farewell brunch at Harbor View or in Edgartown. Three days on the ground, and the film gets to feel like the trip it actually was.
Weather on the island is unpredictable — fog, wind, a storm off the coast — and I don't fight it. Some of the best MV films I've made were shot in weather that wasn't supposed to happen.
