The desert around Palm Springs gives you a very specific kind of day: mid-century architecture, palm shadows, and a sunset that turns the mountains pink for about twenty minutes. I build the timeline around that window.
Coachella Valley weddings tend to be weekend-long. Welcome party Friday, ceremony Saturday, pool brunch Sunday. Covering the whole weekend gives the film an actual beginning and end instead of one long Saturday.
I have filmed in Coachella and Rancho Mirage, and I shoot Joshua Tree an hour north for couples who want raw desert instead of resort desert.
